This summer, for the first time since February of 2020, Cru's New Staff Orientation training was able to meet in person. New Staff Orientation (NSO) prepares missionaries to serve God through a ministry with Cru in the U.S. or overseas. Robin and her team of Applicant Liaisons coached these 83 new staff through the application process, made sure they were hired, registered for NSO, and answered their many questions throughout the process.
Robin also served on site every day during NSO, which was held at Rollins College here in Orlando. She oversaw the housing for 100+ Cru staff who stayed on campus for NSO or took theology classes offered by Cru. She also led the registration team and served in the Cru conference office to ensure everyone had what they needed to maximize their training time.
To the right is a photo of most of our new missionaries from the Summer NSO class. Not all the staff can be in the photograph because several will serve in closed countries.
God gives every person who becomes a missionary with Cru a heart for evangelism and discipleship. Eva (name changed) joined Cru staff this summer. She went to college in Ohio to pursue a business degree. In her own words, “That's when I came into contact with Cru and saw someone share their faith for the first time. Something people talked about in church, but I had never seen done before. I experienced and understood discipleship within Cru and learned how to lead a Bible study and love others well relationally through the asking of questions.
“As I began to enjoy my time with Cru and my peers more than the content in my classes, I felt the urge to shift my (career) plan to (join) staff with Cru. I want people to learn how to walk with the Lord for a lifetime despite the adversity and hardships that will surely come. I desire for the people I teach to know how to read the Bible, speak to the Lord, hear from Him, which leads them to share their relationship with God with others.”
Jesus tells us that “the harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.” (Matthew 9:37-38) Please pray for these 83 new missionaries as they raise a team of ministry partners who will pray for them and financially support them.
Together we are proclaiming the way, the truth, and the life to a lost and dying world.
Yours in Christ,
Steve & Robin
