Summer means a variety of things for many Cru college students: a break from academics, summer internships, mission trips, spiritual growth, and more. However, summer can also bring spiritual dryness for some. At the University of Central Florida in Orlando, ministry continues through Summer Cru, a smaller version of the year-round activities.
Students lead weekly gatherings, facilitate Bible studies on campus, build relationships with new students, and share the gospel with those taking summer courses. God works powerfully through Summer Cru.
At Summer Cru, UCF upperclassman student leader Lexi met Christina, who, despite not having a personal relationship with Jesus, was attending a women’s Bible study. One week, as Lexi shared her testimony about coming to know Jesus Christ personally, Christina began to cry.
Noticing this, Lexi decided during the Bible study discussion to share the gospel with Christina using Cru’s "Knowing God Personally" booklet. Christina prayed to ask Jesus Christ to come into her life that day and started a new journey with Him!
Just three weeks later, Christina stood in the heat for hours, diligently inviting other students to Cru in hopes they too would experience a Christ-centered community and begin a relationship with the Savior and Lord she had recently met.
Stories like this remind us of 2 Corinthians 5:18-20, “All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.”
It's exciting to see how God is working in and through students to reach other lost students! He uses their peer relationships to disciple and build others in their faith, so they can do the same. This is spiritual multiplication!
As Robin and I start our 31st year with Cru, we are deeply thankful that God has allowed us to be part of building His kingdom through this ministry. We also thank God for your partnership in our work.
Yours in Christ,
Steve & Robin
