“...before I was drowning in the world, and I didn’t even know I was drowning until later when I got to know Jesus, and it was like being able to breathe again.”

Yinna (on the right) is a student at the University of Yucatán in Mérida, Mexico. She grew up in a Mayan-speaking family and never had the chance to hear about Jesus until she came to university.

“I first met Jesus when a friend approached me on campus, prayed for me, and said, ‘I believe God has great plans for your life.’ It was the first time anyone had ever prayed for me. I was going through a lot of difficulties, both financially and with my family. 

“I couldn’t sleep, so it was a dark time. I thought my friend was a little strange, but I let her pray for me, and she invited me to her church. Later, I was so grateful because she brought Jesus into my life for the first time.

“When I began to get to know Jesus, my life became filled with gratitude. My life isn’t perfect. There is pain in this life, but there are also happy moments God gives me. Now, when I wake up, I say, ‘Thank you, Lord, for this new day.’

“I found Cru and began to grow in faith, learning about the assurance of my salvation and my relationship with God. Today, what gives me hope for the future is God's faithfulness.”

Last summer, Yinna went on a mission trip to Ciudad Universitaria (City University) in Mexico City to share Jesus with students. She wants her life to be a bridge, bringing Jesus to communities that otherwise don’t have the chance to hear about him.
