“God had a huge impact on my life through Cru, and if He is working on others in the same way, I want to be a part of that.” Jonathan (pictured at right), is a graduate of Rutgers University. Robin has been overseeing his process to become a missionary with Cru. Jonathan attended a couple of the fall retreats that Robin and I helped with and our NYC Spring Break groups helped Jonathan and other Rutgers students with a spring outreach on campus.
Jonathan also shared, “I hope to help students and others meet Christ and have a relationship with Him. I hope to build Christian students in faith, knowledge, and experience so that they are ready not only to share the gospel but leave college with the ability to be leaders in their communities. I hope to see graduates prepared not just to enter the workforce, but to be multiplying disciples - themselves sharing the gospel, leading and training other Christians.” Jonathan’s vision of ministry expresses the heart of the gospel and Cru’s mission to reach the world for Jesus Christ.
Robin was in charge of the registration for Cru’s New Staff Orientation in Daytona Beach, where Jonathan and 65 other men and women from around the US are being trained to become missionaries with Cru. Those new staff are being joined by 82 others who were commissioned as new missionaries a few months ago and are taking seminary-level theology classes so they will be better equipped to serve in their various ministries.
Please be praying for Jonathan and the other new staff as they complete their initial training. After the commissioning, these new missionaries will raise their initial financial support. Please pray that God will direct them to those who have a heart to give to missionaries. Pray that they will not be discouraged and that they will keep their eyes on the Lord.
On the home front, my (Steve’s) health is better. Although I am a long way from being over Epstein Barr, I am having more good days than bad days. We enjoyed keeping Evelyn quite a bit during the Christmas break so that Rachel and Caleb could work a lot of shifts at Universal Studios. It’s fun to spend so much time with her and to watch her as she learns new skills and words! Robby and Annie are still enjoying their life in Wellington, NZ, although they do miss family and friends (and we miss them too).
We really appreciate your partnership with us in ministry. Thank you for praying for us and our family. You are a blessing and an encouragement to us as we serve the Lord.
Yours in Christ,
Steve & Robin
