Thank you so much for praying for the NYC Summer Mission. Over 5 weeks our group had 242 spiritual conversations, 114 gospel presentations, and 8 people pray to ask Jesus Christ to be their Lord and Savior. But these statistics are much more than just numbers; they are lives who were changed forever. We know that God’s word does not return void, so the people who didn’t pray to receive Christ are at least one step closer to God in their spiritual journey.
Our NYC Cru staff will follow up with the ones who prayed to receive Christ and with many of those who heard the gospel. Please pray for them, and for the new believers. Pray that they will grow in their faith and want to get involved in Cru or some other Christian organization on their campus and will get involved in a church.
The Olympic Games in Rio begin soon. Not only are they exciting to watch, but we can be praying for the athletes. Cru’s Athletes in Action ministry will be sending chaplains to the Games to minister to the athletes. AIA is also asking for people who will sign up to be prayer partners during the Games. The prayer partners will receive the names of five Olympians they can be praying for, along with specific prayer requests passed along by the chaplains. I met Angelina at church recently. She told me that when she was young she was involved in a dangerous underground communist group in the Philippines. They would blindfold the members, load them into trucks, and take them to secret meetings. She said that she didn’t know God and that she couldn’t find peace in her heart.
When Angelina was in her first year of nursing school in the Philippines, an American with Campus Crusade for Christ walked up to her and asked if she had peace. She immediately dissolved into tears. The woman shared the Four Spiritual Laws booklet with her, Angelina prayed to receive Christ, and her life changed.
Today she is a nurse in NYC. Angelina is so warm and friendly with a spiritual peace and joy about her. Praise God that he sent this American woman from Campus Crusade to Angelina in this critical time of her life. (Cru is the US ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ and the Four Spiritual Laws booklet is now called Knowing God Personally in the US.)
