Caroline, a reserved and quiet young woman, arrived at the Miami Summer Mission “terrified of talking to other people about Jesus.” Megan, a Cru missionary leading the group, quickly recognized the immense courage it took for Caroline to step out of her comfort zone. During a discipleship meeting, Caroline shared a heartfelt desire: she longed to see someone come to faith, yet feared her timidity would keep her from doing so.

In response, Megan simply said, “Let’s pray!” They asked God to move in power and to lead Caroline to someone whose heart was already prepared. Specifically, Megan prayed that Caroline would have the opportunity to share her personal journey of faith with someone ready to receive the gospel.

The next day, while using spiritual conversation tools at Florida International University, Caroline and another Cru student met Bella (name changed). As they talked, Bella opened up about her background in a church that emphasized rules and performance—a similar experience that had once defined Caroline’s life.

Moved by the connection, Caroline set aside her fear and shared the beauty of God’s grace. That afternoon, Bella chose to place her faith in Jesus!

God transformed two lives. For Caroline, seeing God answer their specific prayer has profoundly strengthened her faith. She has realized that God delights in using her exactly as He made her. He isn’t asking her to change her personality but simply to join Him in the work He is already doing.
