Cru’s Military Ministry in Ukraine began in 2014, when a Cru missionary couple started translating ministry materials for soldiers, their families, and children. In 2019, the ministry expanded as several more couples joined the team. After the full-scale invasion in 2022, the ministry faced new challenges and opportunities to serve.

Today, the ministry cares for soldiers, veterans, and their families through support groups, spiritual retreats, frontline visits, online gatherings, and care for wounded veterans. This spring, they launched several key projects: a retreat for soldiers and veterans in Budapest, a podcast in partnership with the Ukrainian Baptist Theological Seminary, a children’s book titled Jesus, Jesus, Where Are You?, and training for specialists serving those affected by war-related trauma.

One example is Danik, who went to war at 19. Early in the fighting, his unit’s convoy was destroyed, and he was taken prisoner, where he spent two months. During that time, he lost a hand, suffered frostbite in his feet, and endured severe hardship. Despite these setbacks, he showed courage by caring for others and searching for food for fellow soldiers.

After his release, Danik began praying and asking God to guide his life. He says he still walks through difficult spiritual and emotional seasons. Please pray for Danik and others like him—that God would reveal His love, bring healing to their minds and hearts, and draw them to Himself.

The worldwide ministry of Cru touches so many lives across a wide range of situations and challenges. Please pray for our staff who live and minister in these locations, and for those who still need to hear about Jesus’ love and restoration.

One in Christ,
