Thank you for praying for the NYC Summer Mission. This is the fourth week that students have been sharing the gospel on campus and we’ve seen God do some wonderful things. Five local college students have prayed to receive Christ, plus our Summer Mission students have grown in their evangelism skills and walk with the Lord.

A couple of weeks ago, Jesse (who we wrote about in our letter last month) and Ben were sharing the gospel on the campus of Queens College. They met Lucy, who seemed interested in talking about spiritual things using the Soularium cards. Soularium is a set of 50 photo images that helps people engage others in conversations about their life and beliefs about God. Jesse and Ben learned that Lucy was raised in a slightly religious home and knew the answers to many of the questions they asked her.

They asked if they could go through the Knowing God Personally (KGP) booklet with her and Lucy said yes. Again, she knew the answers to many questions the booklet asks. They reached the point in the booklet where there are two circles, each of which represents a person’s life. The circle on the left shows Christ outside of a person’s life and self on the throne of one’s life. The circle on the right shows Christ inside a person’s life and on the throne of their life. Jesse asked Lucy which circle represented her life and which circle she wanted to represent her life. Lucy knew the answer to this question, too. She was the circle on the left and wanted to be the circle on the right. She was eager to pray the prayer inviting Jesus Christ to be her Lord and Savior.

Since that life-changing day, Lucy has met several times with Jesse and Jaycie, another student on the Summer Mission, and is already growing in her knowledge of what it means to be a Christian (photo: Jaycie, Lucy and Jesse). Lucy’s contact information will be given to our Cru staff who serve at Queens College so that they can continue to meet with Lucy in the fall. Please pray for Lucy and for the other NYC students who have become Christians this summer.

The Summer Mission ends soon and the Cru staff and students will leave after spending five weeks here in NYC. Pray for the last few days that our students will spend on campuses here in NYC before returning home. Pray that they will return home with a new vision for sharing the gospel with their friends and family. Several of the students have said that they feel that God may be calling them to become missionaries, maybe even in NYC. Please pray that they will continue to seek God’s will for their future.

Thank you so much for partnering with us in ministry. We praise the Lord that you are willing to come alongside us so that people can hear the good news of God’s love and forgiveness. Rachel and baby Evelyn are doing well. Please pray for them. Evelyn’s due date is July 27.

Yours in Christ,

Steve & Robin
