“I am a Muslim and I want to convert to Christianity.” That was the beginning of an email that I (Steve) answered this week. I recently started a new role in Cru’s Mobilization department, which is the same department Robin is in. I am now on the Recruiting team, which helps people find where God would have them serve in Campus Crusade for Christ’s worldwide ministry.
The email came to one of our Recruiting team’s email boxes from “Z” (name withheld), who lives in a country in South Asia. Z indicated that he is a Computer Science major who wants to learn more about being a Christian. He also felt that if he became a Christian his life would be in danger in his country, so he was asking for help. Unfortunately, we are not able to help him leave his country, but I was able to assist him with his spiritual needs.
I referred Z to the Jesus Film website, jesusfilm.org, where he could watch the film in his native (heart) language. To find a particular language, click on the Watch link in the upper left of the site. You can choose one of the 1,640 languages or click on the Country Lookup Map button to choose a country, which will list the languages in that country. On the right are some of the countries you can choose.
Although Z wrote his email in English, hearing the gospel in one’s heart language brings greater understanding and has a more powerful impact. More than 490 million – that’s 490,000,000 – have come to know Christ as their Lord and Savior after watching one of the 1,640 languages of the Jesus Film.
I also gave Z the website everyperson.com, which will help answer questions he may have about God and Christianity. Everyperson.com is in over 40 languages. Please join Robin and me in praying that Z’s heart will be changed by Christ and in praying for his safety.
Robin and I recently served at the registration for Cru’s summer New Staff Orientation. In four short weeks, 167 new missionaries will be trained, commissioned, and start to raise their financial support to serve the Lord with Cru all over the world. Robin’s team interacts with each of these 167 men and women and guides them in the process of becoming missionaries who will be sent into God’s mission field. Please pray for these 167 new missionaries.
We are blessed to live in a country where we have the freedom to follow and worship the God of our choosing and to serve in an organization that has the resources to help spread the good news of Jesus Christ to a lost and dying world. Thank you for being a vital part of our lives and ministry.
Yours in Christ,
Steve & Robin
