“I feel like my whole life has been building up to this one moment,’ exclaimed Isa, an NYU freshman. David, a Cru NYC staff member, recently met with Isa to talk about the spiritual interest survey Isa filled out earlier. David started with some basic questions related to school, but right away Isa redirected: “What do you believe about Jesus?” Knowing there was more to his question, David answered and returned the question. As it turns out, Isa had attended a Christian high school, despite coming from a nonreligious household in the Middle East.
Isa recounted all he’d learned about God becoming a man and dying on the cross and said, “I just don’t know what to do with all this information, though. I figured you might be able to answer my questions.” This blew David away because many people don’t realize that it’s not enough to have head knowledge about God and Jesus.
David affirmed that what Isa had learned about Christianity was all true, but there was more. He shared the Knowing God Personally booklet with Isa and explained that in order to have a true relationship with God, we must individually receive Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord. David shared, ‘To all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God (John 1:12).’
